BCHS Cross Country

7 – 12 CROSS COUNTRY Carnival 2022

● The Cross Country Carnival will be held on Wednesday, 11 th May 2022 at the Shelly Beach Surf Lifesaving Club.

● Years 7 - 12 will participate.

● Year 7 - 12 students and staff are to attend period 1 class. After break 1 students meet in the Sports Hall in Year Groups.

● If the weather is in doubt please bring your gear for the Cross-Country event as well as books and equipment. If postponed due to poor weather, a notice will be issued via the school’s Facebook page prior to the commencement of the school day.

● 9.00am Period 1 Class 10.15 Break 1 10.35am Students sit in year groups the same as assembly. Brief assembly. 10.50am Students walk to Shelly Beach Surf Club supervised by staff 11.50am House Chants (if COVID Approved) led by House Captains & activities 12noon Warm up, stretches, announcements 12.15pm Junior Girls (12, 13, 14 years) 3km 12.30pm Junior Boys (12, 13, 14 years) 3km 1.00pm Senior Girls (15, 16, 17+ years) 4km 1.30pm Senior Boys (15, 16, 17+ years) 4km 1.45pm – 3.25pm All students will return to school on foot to the sports hall Year advisors to mark year rolls in the Sports Hall on return. The Perpetual Spirit Cup will be awarded to the house showing enthusiasm, pride and sportsmanship. Additional Information

● All participating students should wear their sports house colours and suitable sports shoes. A hat and sunscreen should be worn. If the weather is cool a warm top is advised for before and after the event.

● Sports Houses and Colours: Julum (yellow), Gargoon (Green), Boorabi (Red), Gwardi (Blue) If a student is unsure of their house, please see Mr Moore.

● All students should bring a personal water supply and food. Water and cordial will be available at the surf club.

● There will be a BBQ and drinks being sold at the venue.

● Note: there will be NO water activities

● All students in Year 7 to 12 will attend the cross-country and are expected to compete.

● All students will be encouraged to compete at a level which is comfortable to them and leads to a performance reflecting their ability level.

● Any Year 7 to 12 students who are unable to compete are to bring a note from their parent/carer on the day and hand it to their PDHPE Class Teacher. The student will assist with the running of the carnival.

● Runners who finish in the first four places in each age group will represent Ballina Coast High School at the Far North Coast Zone Cross-Country on Friday 3rd June 2022. Thank you, Organisers: Renee North, Matt Harmon & Harley Schmidt (PDHPE Staff)
